5 Tips to Upgrade Your At-Home Coffee Brewing Experience

Wondering how to take your at-home coffee experience to the next level? Use these 5 simple tips to upgrade your coffee game!

Coffee Beans, Coffee Grounds and Coffee Pods in Clear Storage Containers

Store your coffee in an airtight container

You can always use the tin tie attached to your Cameron’s Coffee bag, or use the tapedown attached to your EcoPod inner bag to seal up your coffee after using it, but for next-level freshness we recommend storing your coffee in an airtight container. Contact with oxygen causes coffee to go stale faster, so keeping your coffee in an airtight container will help prolong its shelf life.

Cameron’s Coffee Whole Bean Coffee with Green Coffee Mug

Make the switch to whole beans

As soon as coffee beans are ground they begin releasing aromas and flavors that are better off landing in your cup than in the air! A brew made with freshly ground whole beans will give you an even smoother, more flavorful cup of coffee.

Better water = better coffee

Upgrade the water you’re using for a better tasting cup of coffee. Coffee is 98% water, after all! We recommend filtered tap water or bottled spring water for the best flavor. Fellow Twin Cities locals can swing by the Fredrick-Miller Spring to fill up on their way home from burgers at Lions Tap. 😊

Rinse your coffee filter

Your paper coffee filter can add a… well, paper-y taste to your coffee. Before you brew, put your coffee filter in place and pour some hot water through it for a good rinse to remove any unwanted flavors. This step also heats up your coffee vessel, helping to maintain your brew’s temperature.

Preheat your mug

Keep your coffee piping hot with this simple step. While your coffee is brewing, fill your mug with hot or boiling water to warm it up. Once your coffee is ready, dump out the water and fill your preheated mug with that delicious, upgraded java! Enjoy!
