Meet Rachael, Consumer Relations

Meet Rachael!

If you’ve ever called us with a question, or sent us a note via Facebook, chances are, you’ve interacted with our Customer Service guru, Rachael. She’s cheerful, she’s funny, and when we asked her to tell us her single most important coffee-related tip, she jumped right in, “Buy whole beans and grind them right before you brew! Store your beans in an airtight container! Use good water! Rinse your filter!” Uh, we asked for one tip, Rachael. She’s so helpful, she just couldn’t stop herself, folks!

Here’s a little bit more info about the lady on the other end of our 1-800-JAVA phone line.

Where did you grow up?

Savage, Minnesota–right next door to Cameron’s! I really liked it. We lived in a neighborhood where all the families were around the same age. We’d all get together for 4th of July parties, go camping together, play in the woods…it was a cool experience to have neighbors who were also friends.

When did you first try Cameron’s?

The first time I had Cameron’s was when I moved into my first apartment on my own, and was buying coffee for myself for the first time. My neighborhood Cub had this big display of Cameron’s, and Jamaican Me Crazy sounded good, so I just went for it—it became my go-to coffee.

What do you do at Cameron’s, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been working in customer service for just about three years.

What’s your favorite part of working at Cameron’s?

My favorite part? Probably the team. It’s just a good crew of people who like what they do, and have a hefty supply of caffeine readily available…so that’s helpful. Our customers are also generally super nice, so I enjoy working with them, too.

What do you love about coffee?

I just love the way it tastes. I love the routine of it–that “me” time. And, I mean, it feels like a treat. I’m not so much of a “coffee person” that I drink it black; I still add cream and sugar. OK, let’s be real, it’s an excuse to have cream! Half and half is life! I really look forward to it in the morning.

What’s your favorite Cameron’s blend, and how do you like to brew it?

I drank Jamaican Me Crazy for a while, then I went to Gold Roast Kona, and now I’m really into Colombian Supremo. So, I went from flavored, to thinking I liked dark roasts, to realizing I really liked light roasts. I’m not sure why I like Colombian Supremo…it just seems really creamy, and has a nice, full flavor. I usually just brew it in my good ol’ Mr. Coffee. I just got a Chemex, so I use that on the weekends.

What does your ideal Saturday morning look like?

Just a good TV show, a Chemex brewing, and Slim Shady (my cat) on my lap.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Netflix binges! I’m watching Dark right now and it’s really great. I sing and I record music…my boyfriend is an audio engineer, so he helps me record. I go to a lot of shows—music, movies…I occasionally bake things and cook. Hey, check out my recipe for Blueberry Stuffed French Toast!

Where’s your favorite place to grab lunch in Shakopee, Cameron’s HQ?

I mean, I really love Taco Loco’s al pastor. Oh, and that new pub downtown…O’Brien’s, I think? Their fish and chips are really good!

What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a paleontologist. I really loved dinos. The Land Before Time was a big part of my childhood.
