Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/ 2 cup unsalted cold butter in small cubes
- 1/2 cup sour cream or 1 cup of warm milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup of sliced almonds
Filling:
- 2 cups raspberries
- 1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of sliced almonds
Topping:
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (alternatives are acceptable here)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Mix the Dough: Using a processor or mixer, mix the flour and butter until it crumbles. Then add sour cream, almonds, salt and vanilla. Mix until combined. Chill for at least 2 hours.
- Roll and Stretch: Roll the dough into a large rectangle (about 12x16 inches), and spread the raspberries and almonds over it evenly. Fold the long edges towards the center so they overlap slightly. Pinch the seams and shape them into an oval.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C), then brush the egg wash on the dough. Sprinkle almonds on top, per your preference. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Glaze and Top: Mix the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract thoroughly and drizzle it over the cooled kringle before serving.
