Highlander Grog EcoPods

I used to snobbishly turn my nose up at the very idea of flavored coffee. I fervently believed that the flavor of coffee was from the perfectly roasted coffee bean and to add a flavoring -- natural or otherwise -- was sacrilege. Well, last year, I came down with a nasty case of... cancer. Long story, short, the radiation I received was delivered in such a way as it managed to obliterate my taste buds. Mercifully, not permanently, but for several months. It wasn't that I couldn't taste anything; it was that everything tasted awful. Well, during one despondent trip to the grocery store, I found myself gazing lecherously at the espressos, the Sumatrans, the Ethiopians, the scent of a flavored coffee caught me by the nose, and next thing you know, I'm impatiently waiting for my Keurig to gurgle, sputter, and hiss out a cup of Cameron's pecan-flavored coffee. Still too hot, I could wait no longer, and, after some 30 consecutive days of radiation treatment, I was able to taste the actual flavor of something. And it tasted.... GOOD! Slowly but surely, my sense of taste is returning, and I'll never lose my love of coffee on its purest form -- black, no cream or sugar or introduced-flavoring -- but my eyes have been opened to the delight of flavored coffees for good.

Of all the flavored selections I've tried -- and I have bought thousands of dollars worth of coffee this past year, 10 K cups at a time (at the moment, I would estimate I have 20-25 different flavors of coffee on my pantry, and I'd have even more if it weren't for the fact time is not coffee 's friend...) of them all, Cameron's Highlander Grog is a flavored coffee orgy on your mouth with every sip. Okay, poor metaphor, but you get my drift. It amazes me how these folks are able to recreate flavors using nothing but chemicals and a profit motive! Butterscotch and Rum -- the rum flavor so rich it should have a warning to those who might be abstaining from alcoholic beverages! Try it, and if you hate it, send me your unused eco-pods and I'll gladly dispose of them responsibly for you!

We've been drinking Highlander Grog in the ecopods for a couple of years. Really like the lightly sweet flavor and the pod design that I think maximizes the coffee flavor.

I'm always worried about the bitterness, but Specialty Coffee by Cameron's Coffee is smooth and tasty. I choose a medium roast and have enjoyed the recyclable pods.

I will be adding this into my coffee rotation and can't wait to try more flavors. The flavor profile comes though nicely. Good, smooth coffee.
