Minnesota’s Sunny Side

As the season progresses, we want to share one of our favorite summer getaways and the inspiration behind our medium-roast blends: Lake Superior’s North Shore.  Minnesota’s choicest summer destination, surrounded by breathtaking cliffs and cobble-stoned beaches, the North Shore starts in Duluth, MN, and ends in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Home to incredible wildlife, rich Ojibwe culture and a truly staggering amount of nature with multiple state parks and recreation centers, there is nothing that can’t happen on the North Shore. Surfing, sailing, climbing and hiking are just the start. Here are some of our favorite things to try on your next visit.

  1. Visit Canal Park: Right on Lake Superior in the heart of Duluth, take a stroll along the Lakewalk or check out nearby restaurants and markets.

  2. Check Out Gooseberry Falls State Park: 20 miles of hiking, 12 miles of cross-country skiing and tons of campground surrounded by Lake Superior. Enough said.

  3. Enjoy a Sauna in Grand Marais: Grand Marais is a tiny harbor town with tons of tourist attractions, including some saunas with locally sourced materials. Unwind and relax among amazing views.

  4. See the Northern Lights: Did you know that Minnesota is the premier place in the continental United States to see the Northern Lights? Drive up north and witness the beauty with zero light pollution.

  5. Go to a Winery at Lutsen Mountains: Among one of Minnesota’s only mountain ranges is a winery that can’t be beat. You don’t have to travel west or east for coastal views, vineyards and gorgeous scenery—just come to the Midwest. We’ve got it all.
